What you should know
Dubai's admin is not hard, but it is strictly ordered, and getting the order wrong costs weeks. Your Emirates ID depends on your residence visa. Your bank account usually depends on your Emirates ID. Your DEWA connection depends on your Ejari. Your driving licence depends on your residence visa. People who tackle these in parallel, in the wrong sequence, spend a month repeating trips.
Schools are the item people leave too late. Good Dubai schools fill for the September intake many months in advance, assessments are required, and the strongest options in your community may have waiting lists. If children are moving with you, this is the first call to make, not the last.

Common questions
Typically one to three weeks once your entry permit is issued, covering the medical fitness test, Emirates ID biometrics and visa stamping. Employment and investor routes differ slightly in sequence.
Some banks will open a limited account on the visa and application receipt, but full account functionality generally waits on the Emirates ID. We will tell you which banks are currently most flexible.
As a visitor, often yes with an International Driving Permit. Once you hold a residence visa you need a UAE licence, and holders of licences from a number of countries can convert without retaking the test. We check your specific nationality.
Ejari is the official registration of your tenancy contract. Without it you cannot connect DEWA, sponsor family visas or, in many cases, register children at school. It is one of the first things to get done after signing a lease.
As early as you possibly can — ideally six to twelve months before the September intake. Strong schools assess applicants and maintain waiting lists, and late applications severely limit your options.
